About
We're over the moon excited to offer Flora & Ulysses. The characters in this Newbery Medal-winning Kate DiCamillo book are full of moxie. When we learned it had been adapted into a play by John Glore, we jumped at the chance to produce it. This isn't "just" children's theater. This is whole family theater. For one, the script addresses some of the tough moments families go through without flinching or talking down to us. Secondly, its characters are models of resiliency. Flora & Ulysses also isn't short on entertainment. After all, it stars a 10-year-old cynic and a flying squirrel poet (yes, you read that correctly) as they embark on an adventure full of other quirky characters that's bursting with heart!
NOTE: This is a full-length show, running nearly two hours (with an intermission). As such, it is better suited to older children and their parents/grandparents/guardians/favorite providers. That in no way means small children are not welcome; we simply want to communicate what to expect so that each family can make the decision for themselves. The beautiful script makes this show particularly resonant with 8-12 year olds, but there’s nothing in it that won’t be appreciated by all.
