Verge Theater (formerly Equinox Theatre) is a 501c3 non-profit, currently in its 24th Season with a mission to create offbeat, thought provoking, heart-inspiring theater that is masterful in execution, empowering to children, teens and adults, and evocative of our vibrant local community.
1) We do funky, risky, funny theater that you would more often see in downtown Chicago or NYC.
2) We provide theater and improvisation programs that serve kids and teens across all backgrounds. We also have an exciting and fun improv school and acting classes for adults who are at risk of becoming boring.
3) We celebrate community and connection in the Gallatin Valley by keeping our ticket prices low.
Equinox Theatre Company was formed in 1994 by Katie Goodman and Soren Kisel. For several years, they produced high quality plays, musicals, and original comedy with the help of several company actors. They also provided theatre education to the community in the form of improv, acting, and musical theatre classes, including Camp Equinox for kids (which continues to this day). In 2011, the Board of Directors decided to change the name to Verge Theater to respresent our transition from a company-based acting theatre to a black box community theater. We continue to be true to the mission of creating unique, quality, and edgy productions in addition to confidence-building, fun theatre education. We are helmed by the Verge Theater Board of Directors, Executive Director Hilary Parker and Programs Director Jessie Sherman as well as the assistance of a great community of actors, writers, directors, teachers and volunteers!
