Verge Theater is excited to host David Razowsky again this year! Join us for a short refresher/introduction workshop on Friday or our Saturday/Sunday workshop — or just come enjoy the performance on Sunday night. You will not want to miss David again this year as he joins us for the third time! David has taught workshops around the world based on this simple approach:
"Your present awareness is the only thing you need to create compelling, smart, truthful, and surprising scenes. Period. No games, no preconceived premises, no ideas, no ego. All that matters is now. The actor’s level of improvisation experience doesn’t matter, for all you'll need to bring to my workshop is your present presence. All you’ll leave with is your joy and excitement and confidence. And after all, what more do you need?"
Fri. 8/24 7pm-10pm:
First Steps ($50)
Seeing the First Step is the First Step — When you enter a scene with a plan, you have to follow that plan, something your partner knows nothing about. When you come into a scene with awareness, then see what’s really there…where to stop moving, where to put your focus, your opening line. Everything. Know how to know, and then have the confidence to follow through. It’s all in The First Step.
Shape/Gesture/Tempo: Viewpoints Elements in Action — Whether you’re an old pro using Viewpoints, or just you just wanna be mindful of these, using Shape, Gesture and Tempo creates instant character, dynamic and scenes without you adding anything but your awareness (which you’re already bringing!). No previous Viewpoints classes needed for you to take this workshop and begin your new way of feeling/being/acting/living!
Sat. & Sun. 8/25-26 10am-5pm:
Putting It All Together ($200)
David Razowsky’s focus on creating compelling scenes with no suggestions of where, what or who has been inspiring actors all over the world. His gentle emphasis on building scenes through emotions rather than plot have actors of all levels of experience reexamining how they look at improv and their world. Putting It All Together will take the actor from how to begin a scene to how to keep it growing indefinitely. Once you get a taste, you’ll want to keep going! You’ll learn how.
Sun. 8/26 7pm-9pm:
Workshop participants will join David on stage for a performance you won't want to miss.
